Work History

Star Systems has extensive experience at the nation’s largest and smallest airports, enabling us to assist with any size project. Our design team has over 100 years of combined experience in the Baggage Handling Industry.

Over the last 10 years we have worked in partnership with Northwest Airlines on Design-Build projects totaling over $90 million dollars at one of their major airport Hub facilities, Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP).

Our most recent Design-Build successes are:

  • MAC MSP Lindbergh Terminal In-Line EDS Project valued at $26 million (2005-2008)
  • NWA MSP 2010 Bagroom Enhancement & Restoration Project valued at $3.3 million (2004-2005)
  • NWA MSP Boeing/TSA Bus Stop EDS Project valued at $8 million (2002-2003)

Each of these projects required multiple phases and uninterrupted service for the NWA BHS during construction.

Star Systems was a technical member of the TSA Baggage Screening Investment Study which resulted in the publication of the TSA’s “Planning Guidelines and Design Standards for Checked Baggage Inspections Systems, released in October 2007. In addition, Star Systems is a present team member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and Airport Corporative Research Program (ACRP) funded program for producing an Airport Passenger Terminal Planning Guidebook which will provide airport managers and their staffs with a thorough understanding of all items to consider when undertaking the process of planning and designing terminals in the ever changing commercial aviation market. The guidebook is scheduled to be released during the second quarter of 2009.

We have recently submitted three In-Line EDS designs for TSA approval using both the new yet to be approved Analogic XLB 1100 machine technology and the already approved CTX 9400 as a fall back solution if the Analogic does not get approved prior to funding:

  • LAX 2 Corporation - Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 2 - In-Line EDS Project
  • Memphis Shelby Country Airport Authority - MEM In-Line EDS Project
  • Northwest Airlines – MSP Bus Stop Renovation In-Line EDS Project
