Mechanical, Electrical and Controls
Star Systems, based in Dallas, is comprised of a multi-disciplined
engineering staff. For years, we have provided engineering
services for the airline industry, from conception through
implementation. Star Systems is experienced in schematics,
bag flow analysis, screening systems and installations,
simulation, system phasing, scheduling, cost analysis, sortation,
and bid package documentation.
The Star Systems’ approach creates a comprehensive
scope of work that ensures a continuous, uninterrupted
flow of success. This comprehensive scope of work
decreases project costs through the reduction of
errors, miscommunications and change orders.
The following is Star System’s Three Dimensional Modeling Approach:
Three-Dimensional System Modeling
For all designs Star Systems utilizes the three-dimensional design tool, MicroStation, for
laying out proposed baggage system designs and right-of-ways. Actual baggage system
components are modeled and utilized from conception through final
construction. This type of system modeling allows us to view an accurate, high-level
layout of the proposed conveyor system, complete with three-dimensional isometric views
and the ability to quickly cut detailed sections for design team reviews. It is also easily
translated into other CADD software packages.
Three-Dimensional Simulation – AutoMod Simulation
Star Systems uses a three-dimensional computer simulation by importing the Micro-Station
model. We then analyze for any baggage system shortcomings prior to installation. If
changes are required they can be modeled and reviewed in simulation, then imported back
into Micro-Station for quick and accurate updates.

Three-Dimensional Interference Recognition – High Definition Scanning
When baggage handling system additions are being made to existing buildings, Star Systems
uses its High Definition Scanning equipment and modeling software “SSHDS”. The software
can develop a three-dimensional model of the entire bagroom if necessary. This model will
become a record of the existing bagroom for future use. Star Systems engineers import the
three-dimensional Micro-Station baggage model into the “SSHDS” bagroom model, view and
locate potential interferences with the baggage system right-of-ways. This process is a fast and
effective way to analyze potential clearance issues for not only the BHS, but also for any proposed construction in the bagroom. This saves you valuable time and money in field coordination.
System Integration
The three-dimensional simulation will be used to verify
and test the anticipated baggage system control logic and
development of the Anti-Gridlock Software prior to field
installation. During a project the SSHDS bagroom model can
be routinely updated by rescanning the bagroom to verify that
all trades have installed their equipment in the appropriate
locations to minimize interferences.
